Republicans on the House Judiciary Committee released a 1,000-page report on Friday alleging widespread politicization and misconduct in the FBI.
The damning file said the bureau is ‘rotted at its core,’ manipulated domestic violent extremism statistics for political purposes and downplayed investigations and ‘serious allegations of wrongdoing’ leveled at Hunter Biden.
Republican members of the committee also said whistleblowers have come forward with allegations of ‘rampant corruption, manipulation, and abuse’ and have tried to purge conservative employees.
The report was created without the help of the Democrats on the committee, which are the majority party, and was released four days before the midterm elections and signals that the GOP will target the bureau if they retake the majority in the House.
A large part of the report was copies of letters the committee has sent to the FBI and the Biden administration detailing the allegations.
It details Republican Senator Chuck Grassley’s revelation that agent Tim Thibault as part of a ‘scheme’ to discredit derogatory’ information on President Joe Biden’s son, and caused allegations from the laptop to be ‘falsely’ labelled as ‘disinformation’.
‘The Federal Bureau of Investigation, under the stewardship of Director Christopher Wray and Attorney General Merrick Garland, is broken,’ the GOP report states. ‘The problem lies not with the majority of front-line agents who serve our country, but with the FBI’s politicized bureaucracy.’
The Republicans are calling it ‘the first comprehensive accounting of the FBI’s problems to date, which undermine the FBI’s fundamental law-enforcement mission.’

In response to the report, the FBI released a statement to DailyMail.com that it ‘follow facts not politics’.
‘The FBI has testified to Congress and responded to letters from legislators on numerous occasions to provide an accurate accounting of how we do our work’, it read.
‘The men and women of the FBI devote themselves to protecting the American people from terrorism, violent crime, cyber threats and other dangers.
‘Put quite simply: we follow the facts without regard for politics. While outside opinions and criticism often come with the job, we will continue to follow the facts wherever they lead, do things by the book, and speak through our work.’
The Republicans accuse the FBI of using counterterrorism resources to target parents during the highly divisive school board meetings in the pandemic and abusing foreign surveillance powers.
‘Over the last year, a multitude of whistleblowers have approached Judiciary Committee Republicans with allegations of political bias by the FBI’s senior leadership and misuses of the agency’s federal law -enforcement powers,’ the report adds.
‘These whistleblowers have risked their careers out of fidelity to principle and a commitment to restoring public trust in the FBI. This report begins to tell their stories.
‘Even at this early stage, one startling conclusion is clear: the FBI and its parent agency, the Justice Department, have become political institutions.’

Americans ‘deserve to have confidence that the enormous power and reach of federal law enforcement will be used fairly and free of any indication of politicization,’ the report continues.
‘The FBI has the power, quite literally, to ruin a person’s life – to invade their residence, to take their property and even deprive them of their liberty’, it adds.
In it’s first summary of the Hunter investigation, the report says there is ‘mounting evidence from the last two years’ that he ‘received preferential treatment from federal law enforcement who seemed to have turned a blind eye to the potential national security threats presented by his business dealings with Chinese, Russian and other foreign nationals.’
It also lays out how the FBI ‘colluded’ with Facebook in the weeks before the 2020 election ‘to suppress information’ on stories on the scandal-hit President’s son and the alleged $3.5 million payment he received from the wife of the former mayor of Moscow.
‘The way the FBI has approached the allegations concerning Hunter Biden and the Biden family is especially striking when considered alongside public information about how the FBI leadership has aggressively used law- enforcement authorities against conservatives,’ the report reads.
Concerns about Hunter’s business transactions were first reported to the FBI during the Obama presidency, according to the report, primarily based on his role on the board of Ukrainian firm Burisma.
The allegations on the involvement in the Hunter investigation and the claims the FBI manipulated domestic violent extremism statistics for political purposes have already been disclosed.
But the report also laid out new claims such as the FBI trying to ‘purge’ employees with conservative views and those who are against ‘woke’ diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives.
Whistleblowers also claim agents on the ground who normally deal with criminal investigations are being pulled away.
One whistleblower alleged he was ‘told that child sexual abuse material investigations were no longer an FBI priority and should be referred to local law enforcement agencies.’
